philosophy

The theme for Anatomy Autumn / Winter 2009 takes inspiration from the couture of the 1950's, the New Look, sculptured silhouettes and sharp tailoring.

It's lines are feminine and flattering. Textures. pattern and cut all combine to create the classic English Anatomy style. These are wearable versatile pieces for work and play.

We've made beautiful Scottish wool tweed jackets and coats that are elegant and quirky, organic wool sweater dresses with beatnik chic to wear over our organic silk cigarette pants, frivolous skirts and tops with truffle trims and sexy silk cocktail dresses using organic silk and hemp silk.

Anatomy is a label for professional women who love style, they want a touch of retro chic and glamour combined with contemporary design along with Anatomy's eco credentials.

All our clothes are made in England and with this collection there is a new emphasis on buying British to support the small businesses - the artisans, weavers, dyers and printers who make up the network that help us survive and remain unique.

At anatomy we are committed to ethical practice in all stages of production.

We use natural, organic and recycled fabrics to help eradicate the problem of landfill and our choice of fabrics from sustainable sources that are both durable and biodegradeable are an important factor in this. People are already more demanding in their choice of many consumer products from food to skincare but have felt compromised when it came to shopping for clothes given the reputation of the fashion industry - the use of sweat shops and poor wages and conditions for its work force.

Now fairtrade ,organic, sustainable and ethical are issues at the forefront of the fashion world, helping to create a much more environmentally friendly market place .

Anatomy allows you to shop ethically without sacrificing exciting new contemporary design - slow, cleaner fashion that is both chic and desirable, that you will treasure and wear from season to season.

We will never use any animal products in our clothing and sincerely hope that the use of fur in fashion is another unethical practice that will become unacceptable.
